1985 Chateau Beychelle Grand Cru

I used the excuse of my 29th Birthday to open a birth year wine, i was fortunate to have sourced this wine from a cellar with exemplary provenance and the resultant wine had structure and finess that is like no other 25 + year old wine i have had the pleasure of enjoying.

The colour of the wine is medium to brick red, which has held it’s colour well. The nose still has some primary fruit of blackcurrant alongside tomato leaf, as well as attractive old leather, sweet tobacco and a touch of cedar.

The palate is layered and balanced, bright acid and fine integrated tannins give structure to earthy black fruits, cedar and graphite. The wines length is considerable with tomato leaf and briny cassis lingering.
