2005 Robertson of Clare Max V

The Max V is a blend of the noble red varieties that are the staples of Bordeaux, this vintage is made up of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13.5% Malbec , 10.5% Merlot, Cabernet Franc 5.5% , Petit Verdot 4.5%. The wine has a portion fermented in new French Oak, with all the wine then matured in 225L new French Oak barriques.

The wine is starting to show it's age in the glass with some browning hues towards the rim, there is a dusty nose of olive, choc peppermint and savoury black fruits.

An aged and fully mature palate with tannin and structure having a greater influence than primary fruit. The fruit is leathery and drying, with oak induced spice alongside blackberry and olive to finish.
