2013 Domaine Epis The Williams Vineyard Cabernet

Alec Epis grows Cabernet in the Macedon Ranges, he is a brave man but the results are excellent. The nose is reminiscent of the peppermint crisp that you see on some of the great older Wynns Cabernet wines that i have had over the years, it melds well with with ripe plum and cassis and benefits from spiced vanillin oak inputs. A complex and complete nose.

The palate is medium bodied with supple and leafy tannins providing the framework for plum and blackberry to make themselves known before more savoury leather and herb characters take hold and drive elegance and length to finish.
