Circa 1880 PF Zimmermann planted 468 Cabernet Sauvignon vines on his property in Woodlands on the outskirts of Lyndoch. This 133 year old vineyard was used to produce this wine, only 2260 bottles were produced. If you are planning on enjoying this as a young wine give it 2 - 4 hours in the decanter and watch it sing.

An inky dark red in the glass, the nose slowly gives more with time in the glass, it’s varietal in terms of Cabernet with blackberry fruit, violets and a touch of mint at the fore but also speaks to the region with plum and liquorice like spice which is a characteristic of Barossa Cabernet.

The palate walks the line between concentration and elegance and does it in style, blackberry and plum fruit have beautifully supportive tannins with a chocolate and understated leather note. The complexity and length of the wine to finish is superb, with earth, delicate herbaceous notes, dark chocolate and plum all coming together with impact.
