2016 Gartelmann Sarah Elizabeth Chardonnay

The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Orange wine region with no expense spared in the winemaking process. The wine was 100% fermented in a mixture of new to 4 year old French oak

A light yellow with a fleck of green in the glass, pristine stone fruits and fresh fig frame the nose with top notes of new French oak and mealy richness adding to the show. There is an underlying elegance to the wine with it's finer notes showing themselves over time. White peach is certainly at the core but there is a lemony acidity and flinty richness provided by new oak that adds depth.

Grapefruit like texture pulls everything back inline to finish and will help to ensure a medium term cellaring proposition.
