2008 Rockford Moppa Springs Grenache Mataro Shiraz

If you were going to discuss cult Australian wineries Rockford would undoubtedly be one of the first names that comes to mind. This iconic Barossa producer is most well known for it’s basket press and single vineyard wines, but does produce other wines of note, with the Moppa Spring GSM being one.

The wine is a deep red that is moving towards brick red around the rim, the nose is complex and layered with blackberry, olive and slightly richer plum influences. The palate is mature and in balance, fruit and tannin texture are front of mind with oak a secondary subtle influences that gives a seamless mouth feel and keeps the savoury nuances at bay.

This wine is in a great spot to drink now.
