What a name for a wine, the genesis comes from the Osborne family cat that was initially named 'Non Alcoholic Booze', after realising the cat had a penchant for the red stuff the name was changed to just ‘Booze’. The story goes that poor old Booze end up living a frustrating sober life and was nicknamed ‘Cenosilicaphobic’ or having the fear of an empty glass.

I’m not sure how much i believe of the above story, but the wine is good.

The wine is a blend of Sagrantino and Cinsault which are two relatively new plantings to McLaren Vale. The nose shows attractive notes of American oak that works well with deep set red fruits.

The palate has a light, juicy red fruited aspect with elegance and structure backed by fine, grippy tannins and mineral acidity. I really like the style of this wine, it’s got an easy drinking style that benefits from quality oak inputs but is light enough on its feet to really spark interest.
