There is somewhat of an underground movement in Australia around straight Mataro, and with varietal expressions like this you can see why; It's robust and leathery but still maintains a purity of fruit and calls out for time in the cellar.

The wine is a medium to dark red in colour, with a nose of dried meats, dense plum and a little bit of leather and cedar oak to round it out.

Balance and texture are the attributes that make this wine most enjoyable, at this stage fruit is secondary, but time will take this wine to some very interesting places. I look forward to seeing where.
