2012 Tapanappa Whalebone Merlot Cabernet Franc

The wines crafted from the Whalebone Vineyard have a consistency and class that speaks of both the site and producer with the blend of Merlot and Cab Franc an oddity for Australia, but another endorsement for Merlot in Wrattonbully.

The wine is a glossy dark red with brighter hues to the rim, the nose gives lively aromatics of blackberry and violet that are backed by sweeter spices.

There are layers of texture and complexity on the palate with a fine filament of tannin holding expansive dark fruits in place, delicate spice and oak richness frame with mid palate and lead to a finishes that is fruit driven and accentuated by drying cigar box notes.
