2013 Grey Sands The Mattock
(Updated: April 13, 2016)
Wine Rating
96
A deep red in the glass with lighter hues towards the rim, on the nose you're met with juicy raspberry, wild strawberry and cherry with floral top notes, this is a fantastic blend that takes great aspects from each of its constituent varieties.
Merlot (60%) provides mouth filling plum and softness with Malbec (30%) giving the lifted aromatics and sweetness on the palate, the ever so subtle inclusion of Cabernet Franc (10%) gives a backdrop of earthen blackberry and the slightest smokey aspect. Grey Sands have the courage to create non-traditional blends, the results are nothing short of exceptional.
