2015 Driftwood Estate Artifacts Meritage
Wine Rating
93
The wine is a blend of 58.4% Petit Verdot, 22.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.7% Cabernet Franc, 1.2% Shiraz, 0.5% Merlot. It was left on skins for 30 days before being matured for 17 months in French, American and Hungarian oak (22% new).
An inky purple hue in the glass, the nose has top notes of blackberry, plum and sweet spice with graphite, cedar and violets playing second fiddle.
The wine carries it’s alcohol well, with concentration of fruit met in equal measure by luxurious oak that gives layers of baking spice to ripe blackberry. Tannins are supportive but supple and benefit from a milk chocolate richness. The finish combines vanillin oak, turkish delight and drying dark fruits with good length.
