2007 Willow Creek Benedictus Pinot Noir
Wine Rating
87
A reserve release from Willow Creek that comes complete with wax seal, and an impressive if not oddly shaped bottle. Unfortunately the wine has not aged well, heavy handed oak and high alcohol has resulted in a wine that is almost void of varietal characteristics, the palate is broad with rich vanillin oak overwhelming rhubarb and plum fruit. A little spice and alcohol warmth show themselves on the finish.
It may have had greater balance as a youngster, but as a 9 year old Pinot Noir it’s best days are behind it.
