2007 Willow Creek Tulum Pinot Noir
Wine Rating
90
2007 was a hot year for Pinot Noir, but the wine has held up well as it nears it’s 10th birthday. A medium red hue in the glass with slight bricking towards the rim, the nose gives plenty of spice and oak richness with fruit characters favouring rhubarb and plum based on the warmer year.
The palate is rounded and broad with red fruits that are tempered by gentle undergrowth and fine tannin. To finish cherry and plum is wrapped in drying but spicy french oak, with just enough structure remaining to give length and varietal expression.
Drink over the next year or two.
