2008 Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz

As with most premium Barossa Shiraz the wines quality is immediately evident on the nose with a concentration of dark plum and quality tight grained oak. In previous years i have been sceptical of the Stonewell, with the fruit and oak not in proportion and caramel oak too evident, the 2008 is a welcome return to form.

The nose gives smokey oak with plum and blackberry accentuated by cedar, the wine has an elegance on the palate that showcases great fruit with christmas cake spices and dark fruits filling every corner of the mouth. There are fine tannins that bind the wine on the finish and will ensure the wines longevity over the medium term.
