Dalwhinnie is an iconic Victorian producer who helped to put the pyrenees wine region on the map, best known for their structured and cellar worthy Shiraz, it is an eagerly awaited release each year, with the quality of the 2010 vintage raising expectations further.

In terms of colour the wine is a typical inky dark red to purple which is a generally consistent trait of the region, the nose has cocoa and restrained plum fruits that need time in the glass to really show themselves.

The palate opens with blackberry and subtle plum, the acid is present, the tannins are soft and rounding with ample dark fruits and supporting oak. There is an ever so slight complementary mint aspect on the finish that provides the pyrenees point of difference.

This wine really needs time, but should go down as a great Dalwhinnie release.
