Metcalfe Valley are a small producer in the Macedon Ranges and have a focus on Northern Rhone varieties with Shiraz and Viognier planted, and grafts of Marsanne and Roussanne that will come into play in the coming years.

A dull red in the glass with iodine, earth and sultry plum notes on the nose with gamey notes that become more evident over time.

The palate has good texture that is both supple and full with a continuation of the meaty, leathery notes and black fruits that were shown on the nose, acidity is well handled and oak gives the perception of spice. The finish sits a little on the wild side with plenty of meaty, gamey nuances that are not quite in concert with the dark fruits, suggesting the wine will be best enjoyed in the next year or two.
