2012 Head Wines 'The Blonde’ Shiraz Viognier

The Brune and Blonde are two wines that allow Alex Head to pay homage to the wines of Cote Rotie in Northern Rhone, and in recent years have become a perennial favourite for Australian wine buyers.

The Blonde' is a deep red in the glass, with the nose having cured meats to support complex plum and wood inspired aromas. As with most wines in the Head lineup the key to this wine is it's structure, it has a velvet sledgehammer approach with supple and smooth tannins that seem to grow in stature in alignment with the fruit and oak across the palate. The wine finishes with lingering spice and superb depth.

Give this one some time in the cellar and it will surely be repaid.
