Lerida Estate have been crafting wine from the Lake George region within Canberra district since establishing their vineyard in 1997. It is only fitting that the first wine i’ve tried is a Shiraz Viognier; a variety that helped put Canberra on the wine map.

A youthful red in the glass, there is an attractive nose of bright red fruits with cherry and plum at it’s core, spicy floral and white pepper notes provide even more interest.

The palate shows both elegance and power, there are juicy red fruits against spicy oak inputs and drying tannins , the finish has excellent depth of black cherry, a flash of oak adds richness, the length excellent.

It’s not just Clonakilla that makes a great example of the variety in the region.
