2000 Jean Louis Chave Saint Joseph

A Syrah from Northern Rhone, this wine has aged effortlessly, it is a deep dark red in colour with a slight dullness towards the rim the only indication of the wines age. The nose is exceptional with cured meat, old leather and background red fruits.

The palate has a mineral and earthy core, i can’t help but think this wine is drinking at it’s peak, dark cherry and cola work well alongside fresh herbs, the tannins are integrated with white pepper and subtle juniper berries framing the savoury red fruited finish.
