I had been given this wine from a friend to review, he is on somewhat of a Sparkling Shiraz journey and thought that this was terrific value for money, and i must say that i agree.
There is something about Sparkling Shiraz that polarises people, and even within the bracket of those who enjoy it their is a divide between those who like them sweet and those who like them dry. The 2005 Eliza sits somewhere in the middle with a quality base wine and a restrained dosage.
The wine is a deep red that is slightly purple towards the rim, and the bead is fine, but not overly effervescent. The nose is steeped in plum and blackberry fruits; benefiting from a dash of liquorice.
The palate has vibrant yet balanced black fruits, with a spicy plush finish that lingers with this wine almost too easy to drink !
