2009 was a tough hot year in the Yarra Valley and was a scary time for those in the Yarra Valley with the Black Saturday bushfires causing a significant impact to the lives of people in the extended Yarra Valley region.

The 09 release was made up of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, the nose has moved from primary fruits to more subtle and integrated dark cherry and plum with some brambly herbaceous notes. The wine is medium bodied with attractive and soft tannins that are contrasted by well balanced acidity, in terms of fruit there is a melange of plum, blackberry and cherry that benefits from touches of earth. The wine doesn’t quite have the prodigious length expected, but maintains interest and complexity.
