A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (56%), Cabernet Franc (26%) and Merlot (18%) that was sourced from 40 year old vines and aged in French and American oak for 3 years. Given the meticulous winemaking, time in barrel and then the further 4 years in bottle it is a bargain at the asking price.

The nose shows varietal blackberry and blackcurrant fruit with the Cabernet Franc giving a more smokey note and enjoying some bottle development of cigar box and a little spice. The tannin and acid structure will see this wine lasting for another decade at a minimum, it gives texture and drive but doesn’t overshadow the black fruits that are flanked by old leather, some chocolate and spice. The length provided integrated blackberry with cigar box and faint licorice nuance.
