2014 Woodlands Emily Special Reserve
Wine Rating
94
Woodlands continues to raise it’s profile as one of the best red producers in Margaret River, the family owned winery crafts superb wines across all price points, with the Emily sitting at the midpoint of their lineup from a price perspective.
A nose that jumps out of the glass with concentrated blackcurrant and mulberry that is wrapped in a sheath of spicy french oak. The tannin profile of the wine is to be admired, giving texture and a slow evolution of depth as the concentrated black fruits and leather notes roll across the palate. The finish is accentuated by attractive bay leaf, cedar oak and a purity of dark fruits.
Drinking well over the shorter term, with patience this will grow substantially with time in the cellar.
