Review Detail
2008 Geoff Merrill Fleurieu Cabernet Shiraz
Wine Rating
89
Dark red in colour , the nose shows peppery plum fruit with cedary oak.
The palate is Cabernet dominant initially with drying blackberry fruit and menthol, there is some spice and dark chocolate on the mid to back palate.
The tannins are fine and drying and come into their own on the finish providing good structure to accompany stewed dark cherry and a spicy kick of oak.
The wine did need time in the decanter to show it's real character.
