Cabernet Blend October 11, 2014
2012 Yarra Yering Dry Red No 1
Wine Rating

96
The Dry Red No 1 is a Cabernet dominant release with a proportion of Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. It sees 100% new oak, but given the quality and depth of fruit both balance and concentration is achieved.

The wine has plum, blackberry and smokey oak on the nose with a background floral note that adds a femininity to the wine.

The palate shows it’s Cabernet roots with cigar box, blackberry and supple supporting tannins. The oak is fully integrated and adds another dimension on the mid to back palate. The finish displays Yarra Valley Cabernet at it’s best with a purity of fruit that is more than supported by quality oak.
