Review Detail
2012 Greedy Sheep Cabernet Merlot
Wine Rating
92
I’m always a sucker for a good winery name, and greedy sheep certainly fits the bill. The story goes that in 2005 1000 or so sheep made their way into the vineyard and decided to help themselves to the vines.
A medium red hue in the glass, the nose has benefited from a couple of years in bottle with violets and blackberry given a dusting of cocoa and cassis fruit. The medium bodied palate has supple tannins and a leathery, earthen backdrop to integrated blackberry fruit. The finish gives dark chocolate to dusty dark fruits and cigar box spice.
A 2012 release, at $24 this is great value.
