Review Detail
2014 Yeringberg Cabernet
Wine Rating
97
This is a benchmark Victorian Cabernet blend that consists of Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Cabernet Franc 11%, Merlot 10%, Petit Verdot 9%, and Malbec 4%. It has concentration and complexity that not only stands up on a local, but also international stage. In terms of fruit the nose lays out blackcurrant, blackberry and plum that's joined by tomato leaf, undergrowth, pepper and clove. A heady but satisfying mix.
A decidedly pure core of black fruits sets the wine apart with an elegant sweetness and cigar box like spice. The wine retains a lightness of touch on the palate, but supreme length, which is an incredible feat.
