Wine Rating

The wine is produced from a blend of grapes from the close planted Crayeres Vineyard in Wrattonbully and the Summertown Vineyard in Piccadilly Valley. The varieties include Cabernet Franc (46%) and Shiraz (42%) from Crayeres and Merlot (12%) from Summertown. The wine was then aged in 40% new French oak for 18 months with a little over 7000 bottles produced.

The nose give dark cherry and violets fruit with graphite and veil of vanillin spice and chocolate. The palate is layered and supple whilst having structure and presence. The interplay between the smokier notes provided by the Cabernet Franc, black fruits from the Shiraz and fleshier notes from Merlot provide a complete and complex wines. The Cabernet Franc shines through to finish with drying, savoury earth characters that are balanced by gentle spice and black berry fruits with milk chocolate notes lingering.

At $32 this is exceptional value.
