2005 Maxwell Lime Cave Cabernet Sauvignon

The wine is a deep red in colour, the nose is still decidedly primary fruited with quality plum and blackberry fruit that is backed by pencil shaving oak.

The depth and purity of fruit on the palate is exceptional, so much so i had to back to the label to reconfirm the wine is in fact 8 years old !

It is the quality and density of fruit and the firm tannins on the finish that suggest this might just be a wine capable of reaching its 20th birthday.

A very enjoyable wine that I look forward to revisiting.
