2006 Seville Estate Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon

I was fortunate enough to taste the 2012 Old Vine Cabernet 6 months ago, it was amongst the best Victorian Cabernet's i have tried. It was to my great excitement that the 2006 turned up recently in a tasting bracket, my expectations were sky high and unfortunately the wine didn't quite live up to that expectation.

A deep red in colour, the nose gives drying blackberry with a little VA or alcohol that is backed by liquorice and cassis. There is good fruit weight, but less varietal character than one would expect. The wine finishes with cedary oak input and textural tannins.
