The nose is a heady mix of old leather, sweet plum, dried herbs and a bit of barnyard aroma that for some will be a distraction, but to me adds considerable interest.
This wine is really in it's drinking window now, with mature blackberry and plum fruit melding with rich oak, fine supporting tannins and a backbone of leathery goodness.
The finish has excellent persistence, with supple tannins, balanced acidity and plenty of dark fruits. A real surprise from the Granite Belt in QLD.
