The SRS is at the top end of the wines produced by Flametree, a winery whose range has grown considerably since a win in the Jimmy Watson trophy for their Cabernet Merlot. This wine was tasted amongst a line up of 50 wines and stood out.

The wine is a dark, dense red in colour with the nose slapping you across the face with the sheer concentration of blackberry, plum and cassis, there is also cedary oak in the background, but the fruit is the real star.

On the palate there is the same concentration of the nose, yet the balance is impeccable, the dark fruits team with grainy french oak and ripe tannins to give a complete and full mouthfeel that finishes very much in the dark fruit spectrum, the wine finishes with considerable length of blackberry and blackcurrant.

This is a wine that would rival most flagship wines in Margaret River, which is no mean feat given the class of Cabernet produced from the region.
