2012 Blue Pyrenees Estate Richardson Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating

95
This is the inaugural release of the Richardson Reserve, it was sourced from the best parcel of fruit from the acclaimed 2012 vintage. The wine was then aged in 100% new French Oak, however the resultant wine has soaked it up effortlessly. The wine has been bottle aged prior to release.

The nose is distinctly cabernet with blackberry and blackcurrant that enjoys tobacco and sweeter cigar box like spice that comes from both age and the use of quality new french oak.

There is an undeniable earthen feel to the palate that melds with black fruits and is lifted by olive and a slinky milk chocolate richness. In time and true Pyrenees fashion flashes of mint make themselves known, tannins have a chalkiness to them and are slowly folded into the finish that lingers with undergrowth and blackberry.

The wine has aged well and has the promise of another decade in the cellar
