Cabernet Sauvignon April 25, 2013
2010 Elderton Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating

95
A big, bold Barossa Cabernet from a great vintage, the wine has an attractive red to dark purple colour in the glass, with the nose showing lashings of vanillin oak with more than enough blackberry and plum fruit to not be overwhelmed.

The palate has great structure with dense dark berry fruits integrating with rich oak, after which some more cedary olive characters start to emerge.

The wine finishes with balance and length of ripe blackberry with oak taking a secondary role.

The 2010 release is very similar to the 2009 stylistically, however the 2010 shows that little bit more in terms of fruit, but it’s splitting hairs.
