Cabernet Sauvignon February 14, 2015
2012 Elderton Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating

94
It always amazes me why Barossa Cabernet doesn’t have a higher profile, there continue to be a number of excellent examples year in year out, with Elderton one of, if not the most consistent.

This wine is produced from the Estate vineyard with vines raging from 35 - 50 years in age, the wine once vilified spent 18 months in French oak.

A deep red in the glass, there is an attractive nose of blackberry, plum, beetroot and licorice. The palate has balance and length with the highlight being loose knit tannins that tie the wine together from start to finish. The wine even though spending 18 months in oak is fruit driven with blackberry and grainy olive framing the finish.
