Review Detail
1996 Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating
96
It’s always a pleasure drinking an Australian icon, especially when it’s showing it’s pedigree and class nearing 20 years with all the indicators of having a long and glorious plateau.
The wine maintains a deep red in the glass that beguiles its age, the fruit is still very much primary with ripe black currant set against cedar oak, liquorice and black olive
Medium bodied, drying tannins frame the wonderfully proportioned black fruited palate, perfectly ripe, but not overripe with secondary aspects of cigar box and leather providing contrast, the hero of this wine is the expression of quality Coonawarra fruit.
A wonderful drinking experience.
