Review Detail

Cabernet Sauvignon June 28, 2016
1987 Stoney Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating

95
Holding a remarkably vibrant red that is bricking towards the rim given the wines age, the nose is exceptional with piercing olive and leather with background blackcurrant and fresh earth.

The palate has blackberry at it’s core, it’s not primary, it’s wrapped in a savoury sheath with tannins drying and beguiling it’s age, it manages to carry some youthful dark fruits with great acidity on the mid to back palate before slipping back into a seductive savoury mode to finish, an experience that can only be afforded by time.

This was a privilege to drink.
