Review Detail
2011 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating
95
This is another excellent release from Leeuwin Estate, often in the shadow of the Chardonnay the Cabernet release is a consistent favourite of mine. A tightly bound expression of blackcurrant and richer plum fruit on the nose combines with hints of bramble and background oak.
The palate has presence and mouthfeel with mulberry fruit given a lick of leafy complexity, olive and oak induced spice play second fiddle. The finish has a fullness of cocoa to accompany the dark fruits on the long, and elegantly proportioned finish.
Drinking well now, but will really show itself over the next decade.
