Review Detail

2014 d’Arenberg The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating

94
Sourced from vines next door to the winery, from a clone that is sparsely found across the rest of the country. The vines are old and rarely produce greater than 1 tonne per acre of fruit, leading to a wine of great structure and longevity.

A deep red in the glass the nose gives blackberry, olive, bitter dark chocolate and cedar oak.

This wine has good bones, there is a sense of presence with drying, earthen tannins the frame that’s braced by a canvas of brambly dark fruits, wood smoke and attractive oak spice. The finish is tightly bound and steeped in earth, with old leather and blackberry giving contrast.

This drinking window on this is a guess at best, under screw cap who knows how long this could go.
