Review Detail
2014 d’Arenberg High Trellis Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating
94
The retail price of this wine is $18, yet it runs rings around wines that could be double or triple the price. Even more impressive it has the pedigree to age well. If you can track it down fill up the boot !
The wine was fermented on skins for between 2 - 3 weeks prior to ageing in French Oak (10% new) for 22 months. The colour is an impenetrable dark red with a nose of blackberry, olive, ground coffee and faint notes of liquorice and dark chocolate.
There is a density of dark berry fruits on the palate that are lifted by cedar spice and work within a web of formidable, yet approachable tannin. There is a touch of earth and dark chocolate to finish with the wine lingering with vidid definition of cassis.
