Review Detail
2014 Levantine Hill Samantha’s Paddock
Wine Rating
97
A flagship wine in every sense of the word.
A glossy dark red in the glass with an expansive nose that opens with black fruits and cedar like spice. Understated liquorice and olive characters evolve with time in the glass before finely filamented top notes of French oak complete the picture.
The palate has piercingly pure black fruits with a milk chocolate thread and fine graphite like tannins that meld with earth and blackcurrant. It is remarkable that a wine of such concentrated can be so supple and complete; the tannin structure and integration of oak are second to none.
The finishes gives a gentle embellishment of cigar box spice to blackberry fruit, the length is incredible.
