2016 Pertaringa Tipsy Hill Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating

96
The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Tipsy Hill Vineyard that was planted in 1999, it represents the pinnacle of the Pertaringa range and is a benchmark Cabernet Sauvignon from the McLaren Vale region.

The wine gives an impenetrable, inky dark red in the glass. The nose is a combination of blackberry, touches of earth and cigar box that are complemented by the most subtle of oak induced spice.

The wine is varietal in terms of its blackberry and blackcurrant core with cedar notes and understated mint. The intensity of dark fruits are met by a beautifully assembled web of tannins and acidity that provide balance, but also soak up the spiced vanillin richness that comes from quality new oak. The cigar box characters seen on the nose return to finish and give a final embellishment to the wine.

I can't wait to see where this goes in the future.
