Review Detail
2015 d’Arenberg The High Trellis Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Rating
94
Every time i look at a new release of this wine i sound like a broken record. At $18 a bottle it is consistently in ‘back up the truck’ territory. It is made even better by the fact d’Arenberg have already done the cellaring for you over the last 2 years !
A deep red in the glass, the nose is dripping with blackberry and graphite with flecks of tomato leaf and gentle spice. The palate has impact of black fruits with tannins and acid giving a canvas for cedar oak and the subtle interjection of brown spice to have show themselves. The finish has a cigar box and bitter dark chocolate edge to driving blackberry fruit.
It’s hard for this wine not to impress.
