Opening a bottle of Dom Perignon is always a wonderful experience, but it's iconic status and the perception of continual greatness only goes to raise expectations.

The 2004 not only lives up to expectations but surpasses them, with the wine wonderfully complex in it's youth and giving the promise of nearing perfection in years to come.

The wine is a light yellow in colour with a fine bead emanating from the bottom of the glass.

The nose gives flinty brioche and almondmeal characters with background nectarine, grapefruit and wood smoke that evolves over time.

The palate is approachable and multilayered but will have plenty more to give in years to come. There is white peach and nougat against lemon pith; brioche complexity comes to the fore on the long lingering and commanding finish.

A joy to drink.
