Krug is a wine that has eluded me over the years, so what better wine to open to celebrate a major milestone ! It lived up to the lofty expectations, something that doesn’t always happen.
A straw yellow in the glass with a fine and continuous bead. The nose is as layered and complex as they come with brioche, clotted cream and blue cheese held in suspension by deeply aromatic stone fruits.
The wine is effortless as it moves across the palate with initial notes of almond meal and flint replaced by expansive peach and nectarine fruit. There is a drive of citrus that keep everything moving and frames the finish, texturally the wine is full and complete.
