2003 Caledonia Australis Reserve Chardonnay

A fully mature lightly golden yellow in colour, the nose is complex and rich with vanillin oak, stone fruits and flint with the slightest hint of barrel ferment funk that brings everything together and gives a nod to the wines of Burgundy.

The palate is reaching full maturity and drinking at it’s peak with masses of complexity and interest but enough acidity and structure to keep it texturally appealing. In terms of fruit there is nectarine and fig, with flashes of citrus still present. The oak and time on lees gives richness to the finish with nougat and wood spices lingering on the finish.

Sealed under cork so you may need to be careful, but in my mind this is a classic mature Australian Chardonnay.
