2013 Seppelt Drumborg Chardonnay

If someone said i could get wine from only one Australian Vineyard i would pick Drumborg in Henty, Victoria. The site produces some of the most compelling wines in the country with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling all world class.

The 2013 Chardonnay is as good an Australian Chardonnay as i have enjoyed, it has all the usual quality fruit and winemaker influences you expect from Drumborg, but it’s the added concentration of fruit that takes this to another level.

Nectarine, white peach and floral notes play beautifully alongside wet stone, flint and almond-meal notes on the nose. The palate has structure, concentration and elegance in abundance with fig and nectarine on entry enveloped by powdery and textural acidity that is complemented by flinty leesy notes. There is an undertow of citrus the provides a seamless backdrop from the start through to the long and satisfying finish.

A wine that tastes like a Grand Cru at the price of Villages !
