2016 Huntington Estate Barrel Fermented Chardonnay
Wine Rating
91
Barrel fermented as the name suggest and aged on lees for eight months in old French oak with regular lees stirring this is a complex and worked example of Chardonnay from Mudgee.
A light yellow in the glass there are some brioche notes to to melon and nectarine fruit. The palate is supple and generous but has ample structure to carry it’s lees induced richness in terms of acidity with the inclusion of some welcome textural grip that defines the mid to back palate.
The finish has underripe fig, grapefruit and enjoyable mealy notes with very good length. The fine lines and less is more approach to finish suggests this wine will age well over the medium term.
Very good value at $24.
