2017 Castle Rock Estate Diletti Chardonnay

I have followed Castle Rock for a number of years, they are well known for Riesling, but also craft a lovely Chardonnay. The 2017 is much more elegant and compact that some other vintages and is sure to reward medium term development.

The nose gives underripe fig and white peach with flashes of flint and oak; The palate enjoys a fine frame with citrus and new season stone fruits. There is a grapefruit like texture to finish that gives generous mouth feel and a base from which oak derived spice and nectarine lingers.
