2018 Patina Reserve Chardonnay

The nose is generous, laden with the vanillin and spiced impact of French oak; the creaminess of time on lees and a backdrop of undoubtedly excellent cool climate fruit that shows itself as white peach and fig.

The palate is much the same as the nose with oak providing a sheath of vanillin richness to everything it touches; throw in almond meal influence and you see the stone fruits and melon playing second fiddle. The worked nature of the wine is no concern given the sum of all parts provides such an enjoyable experience. It won’t be everyones cup of tea, but a wine that is best described as luxurious.
